The only way I could stop it from happening was to remove the integration for now. Even weirder, the duplicated tasks do NOT have the GCAL tag on them, instead being otherwise-blank duplicates of the correct name with automatically-added dates and times. In this post, we’re going to show you how to automatically schedule your Todoist tasks in Google Calendar via Reclaim.ai, so you can defend time for your most important to-dos and create a better plan for your busy workweek. Interestingly, these duplicated tasks seem to follow the default 1hr time blocking, and spill over from the day of original creation into the following days and weeks, until it finally gives up and stops at some point. This is where calendar time blocking comes in to help you actually make time for the things that matter. However, occasionally, when I would add a new task (or even change the name of a pre-existing task!), the created or modified task would begin rapid, uncontrolled duplication between gcal and todoist, creating hundreds of new tasks and events. Inversely, a task or event created in gcal would sync to todoist with the correct name and date, with the auto-generated GCAL label. When I would create a task in todoist, it would sync to gcal as expected: the task appears with the time frame I specified - if none, it would appear as an all-day event in gcal. I had the gcal integration set up with default settings (sync tasks to gcal, sync gcal-added events to todoist, 1hr time blocking default, etc).
